Paul Beauchesne, Tuba
Paul Beauchesne (Principal Tuba, Victoria Symphony) has been with the Victoria Symphony since 2004. He is on faculty as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Victoria and the Victoria Conservatory of Music and a guest artisit at the Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy each summer. Prior to moving to Victoria he performed across Canada and the United States with the Calgary based Foothill Brass Quintet. His first orchestral position was with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban, South Africa.While living in Durban he enjoyed getting to know the South African wines, exploring the game parks, and learning to SCUBA dive. He has performed with various ensembles including the Boston Symphony, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Vancouver Symphony. Paul has been Section Head of Brass for the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival since 2006, is a Yamaha Performing Artist and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Victoria in 2011.
